Potential Opportunities for Libya’s Construction Industry After Political and Economic Instability: A Comparative Analysis.

This study examines the impact of political instability on construction project delays in Libya through a quantitative analysis of 150 construction professionals. The research identifies security risks , government instability , and policy uncertainty as the primary causes of delays , with projects experiencing an average delay of 18 .7 weeks ( 47 % of planned duration ) and 27 .5 % cost overruns . Statistical analysis reveals a strong correlation (r = 0 .72 ) between political instability and project delays , with regression models showing political factors account for 59 % of delay variance . The study finds public infrastructure projects most vulnerable, suffering 22 .4 -week delays on average.
